Dear Alex,I know it's kind of strange that my current favorite expression of yours is "No papa."
The way you say it is so cute and innocent. "Do you want some agua?" "No papa." "Time to get dressed." "No papa." "Do you want to snuggle with papa?" "No papa."
Every once in awhile there is a "Yes papa." I like that too. But the "No papa" shows me that you know what you want and that you won't settle for less." I like that about you.
I also like that you are a sweet, helpful, caring little boy. The other day after Max's swimming class I gave Max his lollipop, as is our tradition (of course mama found some healthy lollipops that she orders online). I then unwrapped yours and it broke; the lolli part came right off the stick. I prepared for crying. All you did was take the candy part and put it in your mouth like nothing mattered. Your brother noticed your good will. Later, in the car, he handed you some of his uneaten lollipop. (He licks. You bite.) And you of course understand everything -- many things in three languages!
You love going outside. Lately each night after dinner you point to the door. You take charge and show your independence and want to go regardless of what your brother wants to do. Usually you ride the bike that I can help push. Sometimes you stand on our two-legged scooter. And sometimes you want to walk or push your wooden cart. Sometimes it's just you and me. Many times Max quickly joins us. (The last few nights Max has led the charge as he seems determined to see the neighbor girl). You want to do everything Max is doing, which he usually allows. When he does shut you out, you don't pout you find something else to entertain you. And frequently whatever it is you find, you're brother is soon wanting to join in. The two of you are so darn close and so loving to one another.
You're growing up. You're learning things every day. And your skills in every way are getting better. Soon you'll be talking in complete sentences. I'll miss the simple expressions like "No papa."
